Submarine Pump & Valve controller for one channel control 

The pump/valve controller is constructed using the Atmel AT90S1200 series micro controller. Great General purpose chip, just perfect for this job.

The pump/valve circuitry I would need in my Submarine would have the following functionality:

• When the stick is in the middle position, the pump is not activated, and the valve would be closed. Since the valve is a normally closed valve this means no signal from the controller to either pump or valve.
  Pump = 0
  Valve = 0
• Back position would cause the sub to dive. The valve would need to be opened, and the pump would have to pump water into the ballast tank.
  Pump = 1
  Valve = 1
• Forward position, would make the sub to surface in the water, and the pump don't need to pump the water out, the pressure in the ballast tank is sufficient to empty 99% of the water pass the pump, and through the open valve to exit the ballast system.
  Pump = 0
  Valve = 1

If the submarine comes to deep and/or looses radio contact with the surface, it will automatically empty the ballast tank, and surface.

The Controller is also fitted with LEDs to be able to diagnose any faults to the system, while its still mounted in the WTC.

On this page there are provided HEX code to program the chip to function like the above, and a schematic diagram has been provided also for download.

The reason why the PCB has not been published is that if this type of device is going to be made for a submarine, it would most likely be customized to fit the exact purpose. The PCB I made is still a beta version, and I have already

found enhancements to the PCB, so there are no need to publish a beta. (maybe when I make a better version). It will naturally be published if requested.

Fuse and lock bits are not set in the code, but should be: 

• LB1+LB2 = "1" 
• SPIEN = "0" 
• RCEN = "1"
