1931 Ariel SQ4 - Oilpump removal
This is how the old oilpump was removed from the crankcase without harming the crankcase. The oilpump had to be molested slightly.
First remove the end cap, to expose the oilpump.
Drill holes around the gears, and break down the walls between the holes with a
pointy object.
As you gradually remove the small oilpump break-off parts, you can remove the
gears.
The first part of the Oilpump removed
Observe the gasket between the Oilpump section.
Press down the stud from the top of the chancase, when the oilpump walls has
been weakend by the drillings.
The second crankcase for my cammy did also contain a stuck Oilpump, so removing this were done with experience from previous rehersal:
Drill out and remove old Oilpump material.
Comparing
with the already removed.
Removing of the cracked oil filler cap:
Want to remove the remains of the oilfiller cap from the crankcase
Make cracks in the metal (do not destroy the thread on the crankcase)
Then knowck off the small parts..
This is the New oilpump made from bare metal by Willem from Holland
You will have to use the old gears and ends on the new pump. I might have to
make my own top cap as the old one are unusable.
The new oilpump have now been modified with help from Ottos Plans. These plans do show a oilpump for a sloper, but it is only the top that is different.
(Sorry, but i still havent taken a photo of the modified oilpump - Will come)
