1931 Ariel SQ4 - Frame + etc.
Web Update Email Notification Service
Frame:
The frame was in OK condition, as far as I could tell all the threads were intact (they have apparently outlasted the threads on my KG500 frame!!) only two minor findings. The rear 3 cm of the frame were slightly bend, probably caused by transportation, and quickly fixed. And the lowest hook for holding the tire pump was broken off. A new has been made, and just needs to be welded on.
Preparing the frame for powder painting.
Returned from powder painting:
Now I have a clean frame to work with - Clean frame = Clean Mind.
_______________________________________________________
The Bike is taking shape (use your imagination).
(Just missing the spring, Will mount that when I get wheels on it).
Here with my KG500 Twin on the side.
Front fork:
The front forks has been modified by a previous owner. An extra piece of metal has been welded on the left side of the forks, but since the Ariel only uses the right side for mounting the brake mechanism, the other sides plate is removed.
Misc. Parts returned from powder painting including the front fork.
The front fork is now in order, ready for placing on the frame itself (se
above).
Petrol tanks:
Left are 1932 and Right are 1931:
Condition of 1932: (observe the wide cut in front, to enable the tank to be placed on a sloper frame)
Condition of 1931: (observe the wide cut in front, to enable the tank to be placed on a sloper frame)
